Salt is produced in many forms and shapes depending on its extraction process and intended use. It may be in a form of crystals, very small crystals, powder or salt pressed in hard tablets or blocks.

Salt is one of the most popular and known substances in our kitchens. Edible salt NaCl is a compound of sodium Na and chlorine Cl. Salt contains also about 2-3 % of other substances – chlorides and sulfates. Without salt, or rather without sodium, a human body cannot function.  It is necessary for proper transfer of neural signals and muscle functioning.
